Refine is excited to announce our first Resolution Challenger Of The Week: Ashley Byron!


Each week, we’ll be selecting one Challenger Of The Week who has wowed us with their commitment to the Resolution Challenge. The Challenger of the Week is someone who has taken Refine’s Rules for a successful Resolution to heart and seen great results! We hope the Challenger of the Week will help you to persevere through any road bumps and inspire you to follow their lead.

Ashley earned Resolution Challenger Of The Week by being an excellent model of Resolution Rule #2: Plan Thoroughly.

Ashley committed to the challenge knowing she had holiday travel plans and would be commuting from New Jersey. She’s been successful in making her class goals by planning ahead and sharing her class plans with her support networks on social media!

We asked Ashley about to share some past struggles, recent triumphs, and advice on succeeding in the Resolution Challenge.

Q: What have you struggled with in succeeding with past health and fitness resolutions?
A: Yes I have struggled. There have been a few challenges during 2012 that I gave up on relatively quickly. Although the challenge may be time-consuming, I make excuses that I am too busy. Examples include: Plank-a-day challenge and a Vegetarian recipe challenge.

Q:  Share one success story from The Resolution Challenge this far.
A: I am noticing that I have more endurance for most of the cardio bursts! I can do the sprints full out without a break or getting as exhausted as I used to.

Q: What words of wisdom would you give to the other Refine Challengers to help them achieve their goals?
A: Get a friend and do the challenge together. If you rely on one another, you will make it to classes and it will be fun to chat about the exercises and your progress!

Tips to learn from Ashley:
-Declare your workout plans publicly and you will be less likely to bail.
-Think proactively, rather than reactively. The train is late, so now I can’t go to class vs I plan a “rain date” workout each week in case of travel delays
-Create a Plan B. Our Challengers will be working this week on how to anticipate the roadblocks to come. What are the top 3 things that tend to get in the way of your workouts?
